Welcome to Siskiyou County! We are located at the very top of California in the   mountainous region of the Southern Cascades and Trinity Alps. Our county is home to   roughly 900 preschoolers ages 3-5, spread out in tiny communities sometimes miles from   schools and services. Even so, we currently serve 270 children in State Preschools and 70   in Head Start facilities, centered primarily in towns along the I-5 corridor, like Yreka and   Mount Shasta. We have a dedicated group of early childhood professionals in Siskiyou,   serving children of all ages and stages, and a strong CARES program. In the past six years, the number of child development permits has grown from 2 to over 100! College of the Siskiyous has a growing Early Childhood Education department which will start providing classes on-line in Fall 2006.
