Shasta County Office of Education

portrait Carol M. Whitmer, Superintendent  Shasta County Website.

Shasta County educators serve nearly 30,000 students in grades K-12, and we are proud of the quality and scope of the educational programs and services available in this beautiful part of Northern California. Shasta County has 25 public school districts, 20 private schools, and approximately 26 charter schools. We are a community that is virtually free from gang violence due to the strong partnerships that we have developed through our local law enforcement agencies. We are excited about the education our students are receiving in Shasta County. Although our students score above the state average in standardized testing, we are continually looking to improve the quality of education we are providing all students. Please browse through our web site to find out more about who we are, our services to children and school districts, and the resources available to the community.

Welcome to Shasta County. What is wonderful about Shasta County? We have the wonderful   and spectacular Sundial Bridge spanning the Sacramento River. Right next to the Bridge is   Turtle Bay Museum and Paul Bunyon Forest Camp. Many of Shasta County’s children have   spent hours looking at butterflies, observing frogs close up and soon to come are the 20,000   planks exhibit.

Shasta County is home to Head Start classrooms, State Preschools and Children Centers,  which are operated by Shasta County Office of Education, Even Start, over 20 private and faith-based preschools. We have some outstanding accredited family childcare homes.
