Butte County Infromation
Don McNelis, Superintendent Website.
The motto of the Butte County Office of Education is "Where children come first." The children we serve are, and will remain, our first priority. We believe that each child is entitled to a high quality educational program provided by highly qualified staff in a safe and caring learning environment.
We are primarily a service agency. The goal of each program we offer is to improve the quality of learning for young people. We strive to accomplish this through leadership and by offering a wide variety of student-centered services and programs.
Our office works closely with our 14 local school districts in serving over 33,000 students in Butte County. In addition, we serve as the lead agency for a number of regional initiatives serving multiple counties in Northern California. We also provide two unique statewide programs. We partner with community based organizations, governmental agencies, and other educational agencies to offer a wide range of services.
