LESSON PLAN |
|
VERBAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITY | GROSS MOTOR ACTIVITY To use as a rainy day indoor gross motor activity, encourage the children to move as directed by the music. The instructional pace in the lyric is deliberately simplified for classroom situations where students are extremely limited. If the students require a greater challenge, the teacher should add additional directions such as those given in parentheses. 1. Everybody walk to the beat. (Walk to the left or fight, forward or backward, squatting low or stretching high, knees high or knees straight) 2. Everybody jump. (Jump high, big jumps, little jumps, sideways to the left or right, jumping jacks) 3. Everybody run. (Run fast, tiny steps or giant steps, left or right, forwards or backwards, in or out) 4. Everybody dance. (Encourage child to be creative and "do his own thing". Feature individuals in the middle of a circle or in a dance stroll.) MUSICAL ACTIVITY Identify how the music depicts walking, jumping, running, and dancing. Identify the change from the swing beat to the rock beat. VERBAL ACTIVITY Have the students say the words - walk, run, jump, and dance - as they take part. |
