  • Have a large ball for beginners and a smaller for the more experienced.
  • If your class is too large, select one partner to play with at one time.

VERBAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITY MOTOR ACTIVITY

This song provides a delightful experience in rolling, bouncing, and throwing a ball. Be sure to demonstrate first. You may have to help by putting your hands on theirs at first as they learn to catch and throw the ball.

VERBAL ACTIVITY

  • Follow the directions in the song lyric and emphasize the opposites.
  • Roll the ball fast - roll it slowly.
  • Bounce the ball high - Bounce it low. Bounce it fast - Bounce it slowly.
  • Throw the ball high - Throw it low. Throw it fast - Throw it slowly.

MUSICAL ACTIVITY

  • Highlight the rolling, bouncing, and throwing sound effects at the end of each verse.
  • Sing along with the chorus and cheer with the crowd."Let's have a ball game. Come one and all for it's time for the big ball game."

SOCIAL ACTIVITY

Discuss cooperation and encourage the children to be considerate with their rolls, bounces, and throws so that their partner can catch the ball.
